Garden Route Casino payment methods: cash, cards and EFT on the property

What each method is actually good for between the gaming floor, the hotel and the restaurants.

Play online →

Payment at Garden Route Casino divides between the gaming floor and the rest of the property. The floor is cash-based in rand: the cash desk loads a coinless smart card that runs the 412 machines, with denominations from 1c to R25, and chips are bought at the tables. Bank cards work at the restaurants, the bar and the hotel; electronic funds transfer is used for rooms, functions and packages. The Tsogo Rewards card is a loyalty record and never a means of payment. Nothing here can be funded remotely — the venue is at 1 Pinnacle Point Road, Mossel Bay.

On the floor: cash and the smart card

The electronic machines are coinless, so the practical unit of payment is the smart card you load at the cash desk. That card carries your credit between cabinets across the non-smoking area of 187 machines, the smoking area of 176 and Salon Prive with 49. Denominations run from 1c to R25, which is the real lever on what an hour costs.

At a table you buy chips from the dealer with cash and stake the chips. Both routes end the same way: back at the cash desk, in rand. Larger amounts are recorded and a photo document may be requested, which is standard practice at a licensed venue.

Off the floor: cards, EFT and the hotel

Away from the gaming floor the property behaves like any resort. Bank cards are accepted at Billy G's, at The Bravo Lounge and at the hotel, subject to your own daily limit. Electronic funds transfer is the usual route for rooms, conferences and packages, and it takes the normal same-day to two-working-day period to reflect.

The hotel next to the casino has 43 en-suite rooms with check-in at 14:00 and check-out at 11:00, breakfast included, so a visit that runs to the 03:00 close on a Saturday does not have to end in a drive home. Confirm rates with the venue: this is an independent guide with no booking system.
